Black & Veatch Names Timothy Triplett as General Counsel to Direct Worldwide Legal Support

Overland Park, Kan. (June 9, 2008) – Black & Veatch, a leading global engineering, consulting and construction company, announced today it has named Timothy W. Triplett as its General Counsel and President of the company’s Legal Division.

Black & Veatch’s Legal Division provides legal and business advice on a variety of the company’s commercial matters, including bidding, negotiations, marketing, new business opportunities, financing mechanisms, risk management and claims settlement issues. In addition, Black & Veatch legal professionals oversee the company’s contract administration and review processes, as well as corporate, engineering and construction licenses.

“Tim joins us with a good balance of Black & Veatch project experience, having worked effectively with us for more than 25 years as outside counsel,” said Len C. Rodman, Chairman, President and CEO of Black & Veatch. “This experience will bring a new dimension and perspective to the general counsel role.”

Chris Hedemann, former General Counsel at Black & Veatch, is retiring after 14 years of service that included helping transform the company from a partnership to an employee-owned corporation. Triplett will work closely with Hedemann during this leadership transition.

Triplett has more than 30 years of experience in the construction and engineering area, including substantial background in litigation, arbitration and mediation of multi-million dollar United States and international issues. Prior to joining Black & Veatch, he was founding member and partner of a Kansas City practice that focuses on national and international commercial and construction/engineering litigation. He also has held numerous leadership positions at another international law firm.

In 2003, Triplett was chosen for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America, and is currently listed on both the Commercial Litigation and Construction Law panels. He is a member of several international construction law and arbitration organizations, and serves on the American Arbitration Association’s construction arbitration neutrals panel and Construction Advisory Committee. Triplett received his bachelor’s of science from Southwest Baptist College in 1975, and his juris doctor from the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Law in 1977.
